Prep School to Open in Santa Clarita

Monticello Preparatory School will welcome students ages 6 to 14 beginning in September 2006. Parents are invited to attend “Information Meetings” which will take place at the Westridge Recreation center on May 21 from 4 to 6 PM and at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) on June 4, from 4 to 6 pm.

Monticello School's policy of providing tutoring and homework supervision during school hours has been extremely well received by both students and parents alike. This practice allows students to complete their "homework" before they go home for the day. This encourages relaxing family time during the evening hours.

The school's faculty is composed of Master Academicians, educator specialists. Each subject is taught by a specialist in that field. These Master Academicians, along with small class size, make it possible for Monticello School to offer a Neo-classical curriculum, based upon the renowned Core Knowledge Sequence. The rigorous curriculum includes age appropriate study of Western civilization and its' arts and sciences, including literature, visual art, music, theatre, history, science, Latin and other languages, in addition to reading, writing and mathematics. The curriculum is enhanced by study of world cultures. The result is a content rich curriculum that encourages inclusion and honors diversity, assuring the global awareness needed for success in today's ever-changing world.

Core Knowledge has been proven to dramatically accelerate both student achievement and enjoyment of learning, as documented in more than a thousand Core Knowledge schools across the country as well as independent studies by organizations such as Johns Hopkins University.

Monticello School provides a customized education based upon each student's unique abilities. It honors excellence in all disciplines. Professional sports, visual arts and performing arts lessons are included as part of the regular school day.

Monticello School emphasizes ethical character development. Intermediate school students (ages 12 to 14) study Aristotelian Ethics. At all levels values such as kindness, empathy, self-discipline, integrity, determination and service to the community are encouraged. Students also receive "Ladies and Gentlemen" classes in which correct social behavior is taught.

Monticello School is proud to offer Travel Enrichment opportunities for Middle and Intermediate School students. American History Tours and European Cities tours will make it possible for students to experience first hand exactly what they have studied in their classes. All students will enjoy frequent, curriculum enhancing field trips to points of local interest.

Monticello offers competitive, reasonable tuition rates. Merit Scholarships are available.
